Wrinkles
Wrinkles come with ageing. UV radiation is a dominant factor leading to skin ageing and skin damage. Normal skin produces collagen and elastic fibres that provide its elasticity and flexibility. Collagen works as “metal bars in concrete”. The arrangement of elastic and collagen fibres is in the ratio 1% of elastic and 99% of collagen fibres. Sunlight degrades the normal state of collagen fibres, which are replaced by elastic fibres.
This results in the sagging, wrinkled, and deeply furrowed skin characteristic of sun damaged skin due to exposure to natural sunlight and artificial UV radiation (sun beds).
Ageing is a process that is not only linked to our genes but also to the effects of the environment and lifestyle. Your skin is a reflexion of your mental and physical health.
