TREATMENT FOR EXCESSIVE SWEATING (HYPERHIDROSIS)
If you suffer from excessive sweating without any proved physical or mental reasons, there is a high probability that it is emotional hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating during such emotions as: stress, nervousness, fear, pressure and pleasure).
The effective and available solution for this problem is Botox.
Botulinum toxin type A is neurotoxin that is known as a fighter against wrinkles. Apart from that, it is also capable of blocking and paralyzing sweat glands. It can be injected into the skin of the underarms, palms, forehead and feet. Basically, it stops the connection between muscles and nerves.
One treatment reduces the sweating and bad odour for a period lasting from seven to twelve months. It is very individual.
In general, the longest effect is in the underarm area, the shortest on the palms.
The advantage of Botox is that it prevents so-called compensatory sweating, which occurs almost always after some time at another place and in its full power.
The treatment is ambulatory and quick. However, it is uncomfortable especially in the palms where there are a lot of teleneurons.
The effect becomes visible 3 days after the treatment. There is some individual variation - from 6 months to 1 year, on average 7 – 10 months.
The Botox treatment does not resolve other medical problems where excessive sweating is a secondary symptom (endocrine diseases e.g. thyroid etc.)
