Wrinkles

Wrinkles are a representation of our life experience, worries as well as pleasure. They are a part of the natural ageing process and to a certain extent, they are determined genetically. However, their formation can be also conditioned by external factors, such as solar radiation, smoking or even the way how we sleep. Furthermore, genetics and your facial expressions contribute to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines too.

The internal process of ageing can start as early as your 20s.  The skin produces less collagen and elastin, which are responsible for giving the skin flexibility and elasticity. Age-related dermal changes include wrinkles, fine lines, drier and thinner skin. Skin ageing is individual for every person.

Types of wrinkles

Surface lines

Fine lines that are hard to see. This type of wrinkles disappears when the skin extends. They can be covered with light makeup. They are a part of the initial stage of the natural ageing process. Surface lines can be caused also by repeated facial expressions and outside factors (sun radiation exposure, smoking...).

Visible wrinkles

They are a part of the next stage of the ageing process. They become more visible and can be hard or impossible to be covered by makeup. They are most visible around the eyes, mouth and neck. They occur as a result of the fat decline under the skin surface related to the internal ageing.

Visible wrinkles and folds

Another sign of face ageing are wrinkles between the nose and the corners of the mouth. They are called nasolabial folds. Together with the skin along the jaw, they can cause a “lobe effect” in the lower half of the face. Deep wrinkles on the forehead and sunken eyes and cheeks appear.
